We arrived at Winnington expecting a competative game, but after 5 minutes, the expectation was blown away. Maybe the boys were expecting to take off from last weeks win against Buxton, but reality hit fast. Straight from the kick off Winnington were through 0-5 after just 30 seconds and before long it was 0-10, then the boys woke up and tried to compete, but Park scored 3 more tries H / T 31 - 0
Marple played the second half a lot better and competed well throughout and were rewarded through tries from Jake and Haydn and the final score was 53 - 10 to Winnington. Lets hope this game is awake up call to all the boys and learn from it.
Scores Jake, Haydn.
Squad, Bill, Cameron, Zak, Sean, Jake, Jacob, Haydn, Lewis, Joe, Alistair, Tom w, Jordan, Sam, Richard, Nick, Scott, Robert.

Buxton arrived at Marple with a squad of just 12 players, but were determined to give a good show. Three players agreed to play for Buxton and they all played with credit. this match was played for 25 mins each way and buxton have improved, since we last played them in December. But tries from Haydn (3), Richard, Lewis, Jordan, Jacob, Bill, Sam and Joel and conversions from Alistair, Sam and Cameron gave Marple a 64-0 win.

Macclesfield edged this one…
The first two-thirds were well fought by the lads with just 3 scores in it. Fraser nailed an excellent try, jinking in from full back after good work by Dan and a long clearance kick upfield from 10. Try converted by Ben.
Macc however began to boss the forward and back play. Unusually, the Marple backs bought the dummies and sidesteps. The lesson has to be dump your man on the floor, don’t worry too much about the ball, and have faith in others - if it is passed then so be it - the centres or wing drift and make the tackle.
The match awards went to players who have clearly been listening to the coaching. Effort award to Big Jack B who came on and won some important line-out ball. MOTM to Sully who showed great technique in the hooker role - whether in scrum hooking, throw-ins and general gruntage.

Winnington Park 26 Marple 0
This didn’t feel like a 4 try defeat. Marple battled well in the forwards and backs but just couldn’t make the telling thrusts and breaks to breach the home team defence.
WP were a well drilled, disciplined bunch who played solidly and took advantage of some Marple errors. They also held possession more effectively.
There were some memorable moments for Marple. The match started with Marple on the offensive and then lo-and-behold, the ball was passed out from 9 to 10 to 12 to 13 to Ben Mo at wing who ran on to make good ground. Brilliant! Think we lost the ruck then…..
Ben Mo had a super game. One of the newer guys, he handled really well and ran forward and put the tackles in. Great to see, plus that smile.
The other Ben made some good half breaks but the cutting edge was missing from the backs on the day.
A good effort from the lads and they certainly competed - on another day, who knows..
MOTM to Dan for good scrum half play - the passing was excellent.
Effort award to Ben Mo - watch out Macc!
