Winnington Park 26 Marple 0
This didn’t feel like a 4 try defeat. Marple battled well in the forwards and backs but just couldn’t make the telling thrusts and breaks to breach the home team defence.
WP were a well drilled, disciplined bunch who played solidly and took advantage of some Marple errors. They also held possession more effectively.
There were some memorable moments for Marple. The match started with Marple on the offensive and then lo-and-behold, the ball was passed out from 9 to 10 to 12 to 13 to Ben Mo at wing who ran on to make good ground. Brilliant! Think we lost the ruck then…..
Ben Mo had a super game. One of the newer guys, he handled really well and ran forward and put the tackles in. Great to see, plus that smile.
The other Ben made some good half breaks but the cutting edge was missing from the backs on the day.
A good effort from the lads and they certainly competed - on another day, who knows..
MOTM to Dan for good scrum half play - the passing was excellent.
Effort award to Ben Mo - watch out Macc!

On a beautiful sunny morning , we travelled to Macclesfield. Due to half term we only had 16 players and lost 2 of those in the pre match training. Tom H spraining his wrist and Arron bruising his knee. Macclesfield had a squad of about 30 players and kindly lent us a couple. (more…)

After a long break the chance to play some rugby. We travelled to Lymm , with hopes high , for our 1st game of 2010. After an impressive 10/15 minutes, where we were camped in the Lymm 22, some excellent defense, stopped us from scoring. Alistair going close but tackled just short of the whitewash. then after all the pressure, Lymm got the ball, from a knock on and their player ran from the 22, to score in the corner, unconverted. The game continued to be contested in mid-field and just before half time, Lymm moved the ball wide and scored again. H/t 0-10. (more…)

Northwich 28, Marple 73
On fhe first match back after a long period of inactivity owing to snow the lads played as if their lives depended on it. Forced through lack of numbers to play sevens, the lads played fantastically in a match that was as entertaining to watch as the score suggests. (more…)

Northwich 7 Marple 21
Rugby at last and a real winter warmer. Many moons ago, when Marple had their last game, they got thumped because they didn’t put the work in or play as a team. It was pleasing therefore to see the lads shrug off that defeat and point 2010 firmly in the right direction. (more…)
